So, I'm thinking of getting a new camera. Yeah, I love the photos I take with the one I have now, because it has a spectacular lens and great manual focus tuning, but let's consider the rest of the camera for a few moments:

1) 6 years old
2) uses Compact Flash memory cards
3) only 3.2 MP (2048 x 1536 rez)
4) has only one flash setting: blinding
5) slower than crap
6) battery hog
7) limited flexibility (can't modify shutter speed, etc.)
8) maximum 3x zoom (digital zoom is worthless, so I don't use it)

I want to get a digital SLR, but I'm torn between a Canon and a Nikon. I have my dad's old 35mm Nikon SLR, and I'm curious if anyone has ever successfully used traditional SLR lenses with a digital camera.

So... what camera would YOU recommend?

And I even joined two clubs!

Photography is something I do for fun. I don't expect I'll ever make any money at it, but as long as I have a camera, I'll be taking pictures! (Hey... anything to keep me BEHIND the lens and not in FRONT of it!)
